the cycle of creativity has 5 phases:

• & incubation

you can start anywhere but knowing which phase of the cycle you are in helps make the creative process smoother.

Because you need different actions at different times.

For example during the experimenting phase you need to follow whims and try things out but this can be wasteful during the making phase.

It's more effort than it's worth to try and avoid a phase of the process but sometimes people try to skip one! For example trying to go from planning straight to making and skipping over experimenting... is an easy way to bite off more than you can chew!
